What is a Grid feature in the Responses Screen?
The Response screen in BlockSurvey provides powerful Grid features to help you easily explore and analyze your survey data. Whether you want to quickly find a specific response or reorganize columns, the grid makes it simple and intuitive.
Using Grid Features in the Responses Screen
The sample responses of a Patient Engagement Survey are used here as an example.
1. Searching for a response
Type in the search box to instantly extract matching responses.
2. Filtering the response
Click the Filter icon in the column header to apply a filter.
Choose from conditions like contains, equals, starts with, etc.
Filters allow you to view only the response rows that match specific conditions.
3. Reordering the Column
Easily change the order of columns to suit your workflow.
Click and drag a column header to your preferred position.
Rearrange columns so that frequently used fields appear first.
The state of the column does not change when you switch screens.
In the snapshot below, you can find that the 5th column is moved after the 1st column.
4. Pinning a Column
Pinning locks a column to the left or right side of the grid so it stays visible as you scroll.
Click a column header and select Pin Left, Pin Right, or No Pin.
Useful for keeping frequently referenced columns in permanent view.
The state of the pinned column does not change when you switch screens.
5. Adding a Custom Column
Custom columns let you create new columns in the grid.
Click on Add Custom Columns.
Enter the column name in the pop-up and click Save.
Ideal for creating feedback, labels, or categories during analysis.
In the below example, a new column ‘Feedback’ is added to the grid to enter the analysis feedback on responses received.
6. Pivot Table for Analysis
Pivot tables let you summarize and analyze your survey responses easily without exporting data.
Click Pivot Mode to enable pivot functionality.
Drag the required questions for analysis into the Row Groups panel.
The snapshot below categorizes the response counts of how easy it was to schedule an appointment (yes/no), further digging into the convenience of location under each category.
