BlockSurvey allows you to rank choices dynamically by piping the selected choices from a previous question into a Ranking question. This ensures respondents only rank the options they initially selected, creating a more personalized survey experience.
Let's see the step-by-step guide to setting it up using the example of ranking our favorite superheroes.
Go to the Design screen of the survey.
Click Add Question and add a Choose Multiple question as Question 1.
Now, add a Ranking question as Question 2.
Enter your ranking question and choose an Interaction Style, such as Image Drag and Drop or Image Selection and Ranking.
Unser Show More click the Pipe Answer button.
In the Pipe Answer popup:
Set a Top Rank Limit as 2 under the Options tab.
Once you have designed your survey, publish and test it.
Note: To include images in a Ranking question while piping choices, ensure images are added to the source question. Then, select Image Drag and Drop or Image Selection and Ranking to display images in the ranking question.
How does it work for respondents?
On the survey-taking screen, respondents first select their preferred choices in Question 1.
Only the selected options appear in Question 2 for ranking.
They can then drag and drop up to 2 items from the initial choices to rank them.
If needed, the respondents can reorder their choices before submitting their responses.
Try it out! By piping selected choices into a Ranking question, you create a more relevant and engaging survey experience, ensuring respondents rank options based on their initial selection.
