Creating a personality test is an engaging way to analyze traits, preferences, and behaviors. This guide walks you through setting up a dynamic personality test that calculates scores and displays personalized results on the Thank You screen in BlockSurvey.
Example Scenario
Suppose you're building a personality test to determine whether someone matches a Dog or a Cat personality.
Sample Question: How do you greet someone new? (Single choice)
Excitedly run up and introduce myself! (3 points)
Give a friendly nod or handshake. (2 points)
Wait and see how they behave before responding. (1 point)
Avoid interaction unless necessary. (0 points)
Similarly, you can add more questions with assigned scores to determine the final personality type.
Steps to set it up in BlockSurvey
Go to the Design screen of the survey and add questions and answer choices.
Click Add Weight/Score and assign points to each option. Repeat for all questions.
By default, all numeric scores are summed and stored under the Score variable.
If you need custom calculations, create a new variable under Settings ->Assignment & Formulas -> Numeric Expressions and define your expressions.
Navigate to the Outcome tab on the Thank You screen.
In the Summary section, click Add Summary to define conditions for displaying different results based on the total score.
You can set up multiple conditions (optional).
Once everything is set up, click Publish and test it.
How does it work for the respondent?
When respondents submit their answers, BlockSurvey calculates their score, evaluates the assigned conditions, and displays the corresponding outcome on the Thank You screen.
