How to restrict response submissions by IP Address

Updated over a month ago

Why is restricting responses by IP address helpful?

Restricting responses by IP address prevents any single user or bot from overwhelming your server with too many requests, ensuring fair usage.

In BlockSurvey, you can easily restrict response submissions by IP address.

Step-by-step guide to restricting a response from an IP address

  1. Navigate to Settings > Response Management in your survey.

  2. Under the Restrict Submissions section, enable the “Restrict submissions to one per IP address” option.

  3. Any attempt to resubmit the response from the same IP address will be blocked.

Note: BlockSurvey hashes the respondent's IP address and stores only the hashed value. The respondent's actual IP address is never stored, ensuring privacy while preventing duplicates at the survey level.

By using this method, you restrict submissions based on the respondent's IP address, ensuring only one submission per IP.
